TECHNICAL INFORMATION ON PATENTED QS SPIDER SYSTEM

The vacuum distillation process is based on BMT's proven patented technology. The QS Spider is an unique (mobile) vacuum distillation unit which can be applied successfully to all imaginable mercury contaminations. Not only are the mercury concentrations reduced to acceptable levels, the QS Spider also yields pure and valuable mercury. The capacity of this mercury removal system depends on the moisture and mercury content of the waste. Furthermore, the QS Spider has a proven track record and the units comply with Lloyds pressure regulations. Technology has been developed with grants from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.

With the vacuum distillation method volatile, are vaporised under vacuum conditions.

The liquid components (mercury, oil and water) are further distilled in the process. Because of the lock tightness of the system gas production is minimised to a few m3/hr. In order to comply with the highest emission standard the gas passes trough a cold trap and activated carbon.
